Paul Newman and My Father

My father didn't know Paul Newman. They just both turned 83 this year and they both passed away this year. Beyond that, they were both good solid men who both took great pride in being good at what they did and who both had long, loving marriages.

My father passed away on August 20 of this year. He left behind a great example of what is to be a good man. Paul Newman did as well.

Ernst Plays at the Ernst Theater (of all places)

An evening of my shorter plays will be performed 11/11 at NVCC , which is a college in Virginia. An old theatrical friend of mine, who is a professor there, is having her students perform five of my short plays and I'm driving down to speak in front of a class, then see the performance that evening. Many of her students think I'm the Ernst that their theater has been named after, but alas I'm just the guy who wrote the plays.

Recovering Playwright

Once upon a time, I was a playwright and was an artistic director of an active theater company. Then.. well.. life happened and for a few years there I did a lot more living than writing to the point that I pretty much stopped writing for well.. I forget...

Now I'm writing again, but it's kinda like where did everybody go?

Theater exists only in the moment. When one steps out, there is no in to return. So I have to create my own in again and this blog will be my story or something like that.
